Enrichment Committee Update PDF Print E-mail

This past summer, Portland Stage Company graciously offered a program to all students at EECS free of charge.  Every classroom was to have three one hour workshops with professional actors.  The intention was to provide an opportunity for each of our students to work with professional actors to memorize and perform a spoken word piece from literature as a way to develop a real understanding of stories, characters and language.  The plan was to use a kinesthetic approach which increases memory, understanding of language, confidence in learning, self-esteem and would improve literacy and writing skills. The project was started in several classrooms. Unfortunately we were unable to continue the project and it has been cancelled.

Fundraising Update

Thank you to all of our event coordinators and volunteers this fall! With your help, the PTO raised nearly $5,000!

Most of the money we raise goes back to the teachers to help them pay for expenses associated with their classroom expeditions. Each classroom teacher receives $100 twice a year, money that they need more and more as school budgets across the state are cut back.

The PTO also funds the Back to School Ice Cream Social, the 5th Grade Class Trip, and Workshops for Parent Enrichment. We have also committed funds to the new Arts Enrichment Program.

Fundraising Totals:

Innisbrook & Dutch Mill Bulbs $1,600.61

Election Day Bake Sale $  545.45

Model Train Show $1,341.85

SEA Holiday Sale $1,389.32

Total $ 4,877.23

Thanks again to all our volunteers, the EECS really appreciates your help!

Please bring any winter gear that is in good shape

Don't forget gear for bigger kids too, all students need to keep warm on the playground.

Items can also be given directly to teachers who need them.

If the items have just been washed please tie them in a plastic bag
and make a note.

The goal is for each class to have at least one extra set of gear.
